About

Portrait photograph of a femme-presenting white woman in front of an outdoor path lined with green hedges. She has hair cut into a wavy, jaw-length bob and dyed pink. Her top is a floral patterned pink V-neck with white, puffy capped sleeves. She is smiling directly at the camera.

Catherine Tavares is a speculative fiction author and member of both SFWA and Codex. Her work has been featured on the Nebula Reading List, Reactor’s Must Reads, and Locus Online, and her short story “Ghosts of Summer” won the 2025 Apex Reader’s Choice Award for Best Original Fiction. Her stories can be found in magazines such as The Dark, Nature Futures, Flash Point SF, Heartlines, and more. An avid reader, she spends most of her time haunting the shelves of her local library, but she can on occasion be persuaded to try a new recipe, work on a knitting project, or abandon her cozy aesthetic altogether to play survival horror video games.
